The Eye of Horus is one of the most well-known symbols from ancient Egypt. This symbol is steeped in mystical history. The eye is associated with Horus, the god of protection, healing, and warfare. In this blog post, we will explore the origins and magickal usage of the Eye of Horus!

Who was Horus?

The Eye of Horus is a symbol of healing, sacrifice and protection.

Horus was an ancient Egyptian god who was typically depicted as a falcon or a man with the head of a falcon. He was the son of Osiris and Isis, and he is often associated with the sun, sky, and kingship. Osiris was the God of the Underworld, and Isis was the Goddess of Magick. Together, they were known as the most powerful couple in all of Egyptian mythology.

Horus was the god of warfare because he was known for avenging his father's death. He battled with his uncle the god Set, the god of chaos and darkness, who had killed Osiris. In some stories, Horus loses his eye in this battle. In others, he gives up his eye willingly to Isis in order to resurrect Osiris.

The Eye of Horus is thus a symbol of sacrifice, healing, and protection. In some myths, the sun god Ra gives Horus the eye as a gift after he heals him from an injury. Regardless of how he lost his eye, it is clear that the Eye of Horus holds great power and significance!
