Where does the word Merkaba come from?

Merkaba is actually broken down from three words in the Ancient Egyptian language; "mer" means light, "ka" means spirit, and "ba" means body. It can also be spelled as merkava or merkavah. All of these words are used to describe the same thing; a light body spirit that is used for traveling between dimensions. The term merkaba is first found in Ancient Egyptian texts dating back to 3000 BCE. In these texts, the merkaba is described as an energy field that surrounds and protects the body during journey's to the afterlife. The merkaba was also said to be used by the gods in order to travel between different realms.

Throughout the ages we will see it used in different ways, by many different cultures.

The Merkaba Symbol comprises of two interlocking tetrahedons.

In Buddhism, there is a similar term called "bhumisparsha mudra" which means "earth witness posture." This is a position that is used during meditation in order to connect with the energy of the universe.

The merkaba also be found in Jewish culture, where it is known as the "chariot of ascension." In this culture, it is said to be a vehicle that takes the soul from this world to the next.

There are also some people who believe that the merkaba is a physical object that can be built and used for travel. However, there is no scientific evidence to support this claim.

Why was Merkaba so important to the Ancient Egyptians?

Ka, or "spirit", is held in deep regard for the Ancient Egyptians. They believed that it was the life-force energy that flowed through all things. Mer, or "light", was also seen as a very important aspect of their culture. They believed that light was what brought knowledge and understanding to people. The combination of these two energies, merkaba, was seen as the perfect way to travel between different realms and connect with the divine.

In Ancient Egyptian culture, the connection to divine was extremely important. They believed that it was what helped them to achieve their goals in life and attain a higher state of consciousness. The merkaba was seen as the perfect tool to help with this connection.

Priests and Priestesses of different Egyptian gods would often use merkaba in their rituals and ceremonies. It was seen as a way to connect with the energy of the universe and achieve a higher state of consciousness.

Ka divination was also a popular way to use merkaba. This is where priests would enter into a deep meditative state and use the energy of the merkaba to connect with the divine, but it's unclear whether it was a physical object or a visualised one. They would then receive messages and guidance from the gods that they could share with their people.

To do this, sit in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Visualize a slightly pointed sphere of light around your body. You can visualize the merkaba spinning around you creating the sphere. This will help to raise your vibration and connect you with the energy of the merkaba. The colours, the temperature, light up your own senses as you feel the merkaba's energy begin to fill your entire being. As you become more attuned with this energy, start to feel it move with a faster pace through your body and out into the world. See it spin around you, creating a continuous column of strong light that extends outwards into the universe. Connect with this powerful merkaba energy and allow it to guide and protect you on your journey. You can even use this visualization as a way to connect with otherworldly beings or energies. Simply take time for yourself to open up and be receptive, as well as communicative.

As you meditate, focus on your breath and try to let go of any negative thoughts or emotions. Once you feel yourself relaxed, allow yourself to be open to whatever final messages or guidance the merkaba energy has for you. You can even ask more questions that you need answers to. Remember that there is no wrong way to do this, so go with whatever feels right for you. As we begin to finish the meditation, we close off the merkaba column of light by reversing the spin. We then take a few deep breaths and slowly open our eyes, coming back into the present moment feeling refreshed, enlightened, and protected. After you are finished, take a few deep breaths, slowly open your eyes, and drink some water. Thank the merkaba energy for its guidance, journal your experience if you feel called to, before going about your day.

Ritual idea

Another way to use merkaba is in ritual. This can be done alone or with a group of people. If you are doing it with others, make sure that everyone is on the same page and understands what they are doing.

To create a merkaba ritual, start by creating sacred space. You can do this by cleansing the area with herb smoke, incense or setting up an altar with candles and crystals. Once the space is prepared, have everyone sit in a circle around the merkaba. If you are doing this alone, you can sit in front of it or even hold it in your hands. Take some time to ground and centre yourself before beginning the ritual. When you are ready, start by calling in the four directions: north, south, east and west. You can do this by saying a prayer or simply stating your intention. After that, begin to visualise the merkaba spinning around you or in the centre of the circle. As you do this, feel the energy of the merkaba fill the space and connect with everyone there. Allow yourselves to be open to whatever guidance or messages come through. Once you are finished, thank the merkaba for its presence and spend some time journaling about your experience.

Merkaba is a powerful symbol with a rich history. It can be used in many different ways to help with spiritual growth and connection. How you use it is up to you, so experiment and see what works best for you. Remember that there is no wrong way to use merkaba, so go with what feels right for you. Thanks for reading! I hope this has helped you understand the meaning of merkaba and how it can be used in your life.
